Raspberry Pi Founders: Eben Upton, Mike Buffham (Chief Commercial Officer), and the EDATEC Team Gather at the 2023 Shenzhen Maker Faire!



The 2023 Shenzhen Maker Faire (MFSZ23), hosted by Chaihuo Maker Space and co-organized by Shenzhen Sudir Technology Co., Ltd., the Maker Community Strategic Cooperation, and Vanke Cloud City, concluded successfully on November 11-12, 2023, at the Design Community in Vanke Cloud City, Nanshan District, Shenzhen.
The Raspberry Pi founders, Eben Upton and Mike Buffham (Chief Commercial Officer), as well as the founders of EDATEC, Lianping Su, Jianguang Liu, and Yongjia Niu, collectively made an appearance at this summit.
The summit, themed "Where are the Makers?", featured content such as Maker Forums, Maker Exhibitions, Workshops, and Satellite Events. The event brought together more than 120 exhibitors from around the world and attracted professional visitors from nearly 30 countries and more than 20 provinces in China.


Maker Forums

The two-day Maker Forums were themed "Where are the Makers?" and focused on four sub-themes: "Cyclical Evolution," "Technology for Good," "Smart Home," and "Artificial Intelligence." More than 30 distinguished guests from various industries were invited to collectively explore the trends of the Maker movement and how Makers can delve deeper into industries to drive industrial innovation.


During the "Cyclical Evolution" session, the forum invited seven distinguished guests to share their insights, including:Chaihuo Maker Space and Seeed Studio Co-Founder Pan Hao、Raspberry Pi Foundation Co-Founder and Raspberry Pi Ltd. CEO Eben Upton、Deloitte Asia Pacific Edge Computing Center Innovation Leader and Managing Director Duleesha Kulasooriya、Make Community Editor David James Groom、Kickstarter PBC Greater China Region Strategic Representative 、 Senior Advisor Henri Peng、Bambu Lab CEO Ye Tao、Druk Holding & Investments (DHI) Senior Analyst Chirag Sharma. As drivers of the Maker movement's development, these guests explored themes such as innovation, collaboration, and openness. They analyzed the trends of the Maker movement from the perspectives of open-source hardware, open-source communities, innovation consulting, digital manufacturing tools in this summit, innovation commercialization, and national digitalization. They also contemplated the future development direction of Makers and the potential for innovation to create value.

Maker Exhibitions



The Maker exhibition was a highlight of MFSZ23, attracting over 120 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and regions around the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Nepal, Spain, India, Poland, Indonesia, Singapore, as well as cities and regions in China such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Inner Mongolia, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

A key highlight of this Maker exhibition was the diverse range of application scenarios and broad industry coverage. Over the two-day event, the showcased projects, solutions, and products spanned more than 30 industries, primarily concentrated in the fields of artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, technology education, entertainment, smart cities, and smart agriculture. Many renowned industry leaders participated, including NVIDIA, Raspberry Pi, Seeed Studio, and Bambu Lab. Additionally, over 10 universities and institutions took part, including Shenzhen Polytechnic, Southern University of Science and Technology, Southwest Jiaotong University, Shenzhen University of Technology, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, and Tsinghua University Shenzhen Graduate School, showcasing cross-industry innovative applications.

The successful hosting of this MFSZ event further promoted the integration of technological innovation and industrial development, building a communication bridge between technological innovation and industrial applications, fostering sustainable development, and supporting rural revitalization and the digital transformation of industries. It is believed that more innovative achievements will emerge in the future, bringing development opportunities to society.
