United at Embedded World China 2024!
 


 

The three days of Embedded World China Shanghai came to a successful end! EDATEC, Raspberry Pi and CODESYS--the leader of industrial automation software, collectively appeared in this exhibition and brought a wonderful audio-visual feast to the audience. On the exhibition site, Raspberry Pi team brought the latest Raspberry Pi AI Kit scene demonstration, which attracted many visitors. EDATEC displayed a series of solutions based on Raspberry Pi and CODESYS, which were highly recognized by the attendees. Many industrial enterprise representatives on site showed great interest in these cutting-edge technology solutions and hoped to apply them in their own digital transformation process.
 

1.Raspberry Pi CM4 Based Six-axis Robot with Vision Solution




The system incorporates 1pcs EDATEC high-speed AI cameras, a six-axis robot, EDATEC 15.6” HMI and EtherCAT Remote I/O Modules . Both AI Camera & HMI are powered by Raspberry Pi CM4. The AI Cameras support continuous, real-time images, image capture and processing and parallax operations (to identify items’ positions). The six-axis robot is controlled by HMI through standard EtherCAT fieldbus ,which is powered by CODESYS.
 
This solution is for demonstration purpose, it can be used to replace labor-intensive task in the smart factory.

2.Raspberry Pi CM4 and CODESYS Based PLC Solution




The system incorporates an EDATEC PLC and a 10.1” HMI. Both EDATEC PLC & HMI are powered by Raspberry Pi CM4. The PLC can support different types of slice I/O modules, DI, DO, VI, VO, AI, AO, Pulse output and Temperature modules. It can support to install up to 32 different types of I/O modules. The PLC is powered by CODESYS, support IEC-61131-3 PLCopen languages, Visualization and Motion Control, Support Modbus TCP/IP and EtherCAT. The GUI on HDMI display is powered by CODESYS TargetVisu, and the HMI can communicate with the PLC by CODESYS WebVisu. This solution is for demonstration purpose, it shows the digital and analog I/O capability and motion control capability.

3.Raspberry Pi 5 and CODESYS based 16-axis Motion Control Solution




This system incorporates a Raspberry Pi 5 and 16 pcs EtherCAT bus control stepper motor. The 16-axis stepper motors are controller by Raspberry Pi 5 through standard Industrial EtherCAT fieldbus, which is powered by CODESYS. It can support 1ms EtherCAT bus cycle with the bus jitter lower than 50us. This solution is for demonstration purpose, it can be used in muti-axis motion control system where real-time and synchronization performance is required.

4.Raspberry Pi AI Kit




The Raspberry Pi team brings their latest release, Raspberry Pi AI Kit, which bundles Raspberry Pi M.2 HAT+ with the Hailo-8L 13 TOPS AI acceleration module for use with the Raspberry Pi 5. This AI Kit provides a cost-effective and low-power way to access high-performance AI for applications in program control, network security, home automation, and robotics.The AI Kit comes with the Raspberry Pi's camera software installed, while the rpicam-apps camera application automatically uses the NPU to run compatible post-processing.

5.Raspberry Pi Electronic Pet by Lu Wu Intelligence




The Raspberry Pi electronic pet made by Lu Wu Intelligence was unveiled at the booth of Shanghai International Embedded Exhibition. This small and flexible e-pet aroused the love of many people present, and it also demonstrated the breadth and flexibility of Raspberry Pi in various application areas. The Raspberry Pi team affirmed and recognized this e-pet product, and they are glad to see that Raspberry Pi technology can be applied to a variety of innovative fields, which fully demonstrates the prospect of Raspberry Pi's wide range of applications in the embedded field.
 
Embedded  World China 2024 provides us with an excellent communication platform, and this booth fully highlights the prospect of the wide range of applications of Raspberry Pi embedded technology in various industries. I believe that this will inject new momentum for the future development of the embedded industry.
