ED-IPC2000 Probabilistic Screen Flickering Issue with External Monitor
1 Overview
This document introduces the background, root cause, and scope of the probabilistic screen flickering issue when the ED-IPC2000 is used with an external monitor.
1.1 Background
- Phenomenon Description:
Customer reported that when the ED-IPC2000 is used with an external monitor in complex environments, the monitor occasionally experiences screen flickering. Meanwhile, the touch function of the touch monitor connected via USB sometimes fails and can only be temporarily restored by re-plugging the USB cable.
- Root Cause Analysis:
After in-depth analysis and verification by our engineers, the root cause has been identified as follows: Due to layout space constraints on the PCBA ED-IPC20x0 V1_2, the metal shells of the HDMI connector and USB 2.0 connector cannot be directly connected to the chassis ground via the screw holes. This results in the HDMI high-speed signal being susceptible to interference in complex environments, thereby causing the screen flickering phenomenon.
TIP
The PCBA ED-IPC20x0 V1_2 is used in the following product models: ED-IPC2000, ED-HMI2020-070C, and ED-HMI2020-101C.
1.2 Applicability
The affected product models are as follows:
- ED-IPC2000
- ED-HMI2020-070C
- ED-HMI2020-101C
For the products listed above, if the production date is before Week 34 of 2026 (i.e., the first four digits of the device's serial number are less than 2634, as shown in the image below), and the corresponding PCBA is ED-IPC20x0 V1_2, then the aforementioned screen flickering and USB touch failure issues may occur.

TIP
- For the products listed above, if the production date is Week 34 of 2026 or later, this issue has been resolved during production.
- The serial number label is typically located on the device housing. If the first four digits of the device's serial number are greater than or equal to 2634, it indicates that the device was produced after Week 34 of 2026.

2 EDATEC Actions
If users encounter the above-mentioned probabilistic screen flickering issue with external monitors while using ED-IPC2000, ED-HMI2020-070C, or ED-HMI2020-101C devices, please contact our sales representatives or technical support team.
Our company has completed the root cause analysis and initiated a hardware revision for this issue. The corresponding PCBA will be upgraded to the ED-IPC20x0 V1_3 version to completely resolve the problem.
